If you love diving and want to pass that love down to your kids, it’s not something that has to wait until they are 18. Children can start diving at the age of 8 years old and take their first breaths underwater fully guided by trained professionals. Your kids can get their scuba certifications starting with the PADI Bubblemaker.
This course gives children their first thrill of being underwater, fully equipped with kids-sized gear. The course is conducted and supervised in shallow pools where parents are free to join and accompany them. Children participating in the course will get to learn the functions of scuba diving equipment and basic skills of breathing underwater and swimming in the depths. Children should at least be comfortable in the water before taking part in this course.
Keep in mind that your kids aren’t just small adults, they think, process and behave differently to adults. Be realistic about the physical and psychological ability of your kids handling the dive training. They need to keep up with the materials given in the course and should be able to speak up and tell their instructors if they are having any trouble or problems understanding lessons being taught.
As any parent knows, age is not a determining factor when it comes to a child’s maturity. Every child is different and sometimes a 10-year-old may have a more mature mindset than a 12-year-old. Junior Open Water certifications are available from the age of 10, where children learn all the basics to prepare them for the complete dive certification when they come of age.
Can’t wait for your children to experience and love the underwater world as much as you do? Then sign them up to the Bubblemaker course! Contact Aqura Dive where PADI courses, including the Bubblemaker, are being held.
